WILDLIFE

We offer a unique Wildlife Experience for this area of Scotland.  In the grounds we have a purpose built 2 person wildlife hide that allows guests and photographers to get up close to some of Scotlands rarest creatures such as the Pine Marten and Red Squirrel.  All the sightings below have been in and around the garden, and local area. Please contact us for  further details. Guests booking our accommodation are welcome to use our wildlife hide during their stay for free and we offer additional paid services for those who would like it.

Our Wildlife hide is for exclusive use by guests staying with us so no sharing with loads of other photographers (especially important right now).  It can seat 2 people in comfort and has a wide window for a 180 degree view of the natural perches we have created.  Set within our garden in a dedicated wildlife garden space we have planted trees, plants and wildflowers all to attract the bees, insects and mammals to our little wildlife haven.  You can sit in comfort only 50 meters from the accommodation and get up close to some of Scotlands iconic and rarest creatures.  Woodland birds are plentiful and the Red Squirrels visit every day.  Sometimes up to 8 at a time.  Even with a basic camera set up you can still capture amazing images.  A Mirrorless, Bridge Camera or DSLR with a kit lens with 300mm reach will be fine as the hide allows you to get up close.

We also have a wealth of experience of other local areas where wildlife watching opportunities are plentiful.  This of course will depend upon the season.  From waders such are Curlew, Red Shank & Oystercatchers. To boat trips on Loch Fyne to see the Seals, Porpoises, and Gannets (https://www.fyneseatours.com).  A trip aboard Fyne Sea Tours gives you a excellent opportunity to get up close to many of the local marine wildlife.  All from from the comfort of their fantastic boat.

If Otters are of interest we are currently developing a trip whilst staying here to photograph them so watch this space.  We will also be offering exclusive photography holidays so groups of photographers can come and stay and experience a whole range of photographic days.

We also now have a reflection pool for amazing photography opportunities.  Please note that children under 12 can only use the hide when accompanied by an adult.  Peanuts are used as feed so its not suitable for allergy sufferers. If you are interested in any more of the wildlife photography services we offer please get in touch.  We also offer the chance to photograph the night sky and if your lucky the Aurora right here from our  garden.

Photographing the red squirrels and pine martens is a wonderful experience that our guest love.  We also have regular visits from Tawny Owls and in the past few years have watched chicks being raised here.  Our hide has a wide viewing area with tripod attachments.  As the seasons change there is always something of interest to photograph all convientiently located in the garden or surrounding area.  Autumn and Winter are fantastic times to see wildlife here.
